DeKeratry Lofts is located in Georgetown, Texas. We are in the Heart of Texas Pigeon Club and participate in multiple one loft races yearly. We are blessed to be in a state where the competition is tough and vibrant. Because of this, we breed to compete, refining our stock through empirical trials.
Decades of Experience
I’ve been raising and racing homing pigeons off and on for more than 40 years. My wife and two youngest sons help with the management of our birds; and we all enjoy backyard family time on race day. Racing pigeons will always be a family sport for us.
Great Foundations
Over the years, I’ve worked with various families of birds. More recently, I have focused my efforts on the development of birds from Roland Janssens in Belgium. As you may know, Roland and his late father Julien raised and raced the famous “White Bandit” who won 17 x 1st. The Bandit and some of his relatives were brought to the U.S. in the 1980s by the pigeon Master Chic Brooks and a dynasty was born. Chic has cultivated these incredible birds over the last several decades. They have won major competitions all over the world. I was fortunate enough to purchase some breeding stock from Chic a few years ago. The birds are amazing. They have feathers of silk, super muscle, are buoyant; and are very good parents.
Friends In The Sport
With the help of my friend Frank McLaughlin, I reached out to Roland Janssens a couple of years ago and was able to import some birds directly from his loft. These birds have common ancestry with Chic’s birds from Hapyco Lofts. Roland has continued to win season after season. Frank and I visited Roland in March 2019 and had an absolutely wonderful time. Roland and his family blessed us with generous hospitality. The birds that we procured from his loft are all proven Champion racers and breeders. To an individual, they are masterpieces in the hand. They are full of character. They also have feathers of silk, super muscle, perfect buoyancy and are excellent parents.
These birds are acclaimed sprinters. However, it seems that their main advantage is an ability to rapidly orient to their circumstances; then make a bee-line for home. My late friend Jerry Hilliard of Belton, TX worked with the Bandit birds from Chic for decades as well. He had 150 mile winners and 500-mile day birds to boot. Moreover, the birds from Jerry have won practically any show where they’ve been entered.
Helping Our Fellow Breeders
I will be developing several pages on this website, including a page for the health of pigeon fanciers. I am a pulmonologist (lung specialist) and most importantly, I am compelled to keep my friends in the sport healthy!
Please peruse our stock birds and their pedigrees. I’ll have birds for sale from time to time. There will be some birds from other families as well. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
